Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our team in our downtown Cleveland office. The Senior Financial Accountant focuses on the generation, preparation, and communication of information that is complete and accurate to support effective decision making, management, internal controls, and financial reporting. Our Senior Financial Accountants are responsible for completing a wide range of general accounting, real estate accounting, and reporting activities within the Accounting Services Organization under the guidance and supervision of Accounting Managers or Supervisors. Additionally, team members in this role may be responsible for a product and/or property portfolio ranging from 10-20 properties and/or corporate/service/management entities depending on the level of accounting complexity involved. The responsibilities reflect varying levels of capabilities and the team members are expected to evolve as they acquire relevant experience and demonstrate greater accountability.

In addition to focusing on financial accounting, you may be expected to provide subject matter expertise, especially with regards to accounting for complex transactions and/or properties, review other Financial Accountants' work to assure accuracy and completeness of work output, and/or coach and mentor other Financial Accountants.

What it Takes

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • CPA or candidate preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in public accounting and/or real estate accounting
  • Desire to develop advanced accounting capabilities is essential
  • Expert knowledge of general accounting principles and processes
  • Advanced ability to perform quality assurance reviews
  • Strong relationship building and people management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Critical thinker with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have great attention to detail and work well with deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Adaptability to change and demonstrated ability to develop and implement process/system improvements and strategic initiatives
  • Collaborative team player with "can do" and "whatever it takes" approach
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to occasionally travel, as needed.
